Hybrid Hexapods
Allient | ALIO Hybrid Hexapod® – Next-Generation 6-DOF Motion Control
The ALIO Hybrid Hexapod®, offered under the Allient umbrella, is a breakthrough in 6-Degree-of-Freedom (6-DOF) motion control technology. Unlike traditional Stewart platforms that rely on serial linkages and legacy kinematics, the Hybrid Hexapod® combines a high-precision XY monolithic stage with a tripod, providing Z axis motion, and a continuous rotation theta axis—creating an ultra-stiff, ultra-accurate, high-speed positioning system with virtually unlimited XY travel.
Engineered for applications requiring extreme precision, the Hybrid Hexapod® delivers <100 nm 3D Point Precision® repeatability, exceptional path accuracy, superior stiffness, and dramatically improved dynamic performance. Users gain a larger work envelope, more consistent tool center point control, and better overall motion fidelity than can be achieved with conventional hexapod systems.
This patented design has been adopted across applications such as laser processing, die bonding, fiber to chip coupling, optical inspection, medical device assembly, and precision metrology, where reliability and precision in six axes are mission-critical.
Competitive Advantages of the ALIO Hybrid Hexapod®:
- Significantly outperforms traditional hexapods in speed, stiffness, accuracy, and path performance
- <100 nm Point Precision® repeatability across all 6 axes
- Virtually unlimited XY travel with a larger work envelope
- Fully programmable Tool-Center-Point (TCP) locations and Rotated Coordinate System (RCS) for complex workflows
- Reduced error accumulation compared to serial-kinematic hexapods
- Ideal for high-precision manufacturing and inspection environments
As part of Allient, ALIO’s Hybrid Hexapod® delivers a category-defining advance in 6-DOF motion control—helping OEMs and advanced manufacturers achieve higher throughput, improved precision, and greater competitive advantage.
